Christmas Dinner #1

This weekend saw the first of our three Christmas dinners of 2009 (one at home, one with my family, one with the Husband’s). Very nice food, but so rich that neither the Husband nor I were able to eat much today. Ho hum.

Starter:
Potato cakes with creme fraiche and smoked salmon (from Nigella)

Main courses:
Roast poussin
Honey-coated, slow-cooked ham
Pigs in blankets
Sausagemeat stuffing
Roast potatoes
Pan-roasted parsnips with honey
Brussel sprouts with lardons and chestnuts
Leeks and white sauce
Carrots

Dessert:
Lemon-curd icecream and summer fruits
Winter Eton Mess
Mincemeat trees with brandy butter

Cheese course:
Cheeseboard (incl. fiery Mexicana) with chutneys.
